It was a resounding yes when the staff in the Diagnostic Imaging Unit at Almonte General Hospital voted on Oct. 20 to join OPSEU/SEFPO.

“Congratulations and welcome to our great union,” said OPSEU/SEFPO President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “Like the thousands of other front line public sector workers who’ve joined us over the past few months, you’ve taken an important step towards the better wages and working conditions you need to provide Ontarians with the best possible services and care.

“Joining OPSEU/SEFPO is great news for you, great news for your patients, and great news for everybody in your community.”

The new OPSEU/SEFPO members at Almonte General work as Medical Radiation Technologists and Sonographers.

“We’re one of the only unions in Canada that’s growing, and I’m so pleased and proud that we’ve just grown a little more,” said OPSEU/SEFPO First Vice-President / Treasurer Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida. “It’s safe to say that our newest members will benefit from having the strength and solidarity of 170,000 other members standing by our side.

“And we’ll certainly benefit from having their passion and expertise with us.”
