We celebrate Father’s Day on June 21 with the COVID-19 pandemic casting a dark shadow, but knowing that fathers around the province have stepped up in challenging times.
Every day, many thousands of fathers across Ontario risk their health to work gruelling, sometimes dangerous shifts to provide essential frontline services. Many of them are proudly represented by OPSEU.
Thousands more work from home, often while caring for their children and homeschooling them, and getting household duties done. Some dads live with the anxiety of having lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
This year, lets make a special effort to honour Dad or anyone else who has been a father figure to you. As fathers ourselves, we send our thanks and warm best wishes to all dads, especially those who belong to our great OPSEU family.
May Father’s Day 2020 be an occasion for all of us to look forward to the summer, and beyond, with renewed hope.
In solidarity,
