Your OPSEU Bargaining Team is in conciliation on Monday, February 26
Show your support for quality education at Algoma and for your bargaining team: Wear one (or more) of our stickers.
Over the past year and half, we have been patient and collaborative. But it’s time to take a stand.
And with an 84 percent strike vote, we are taking a very strong stand against concessions that will hurt the university, that will hurt the students, and that will hurt our ability to deliver high-quality education.
On Monday, February 26, your bargaining team will be in conciliation with the employer. There are four outstanding issues that must be resolved:
- Workload: The administration’s proposal to increase our course-load would leave us with the highest course-load of any Ontario university. We will not accept this.
- Salary: Full-time faculty salaries are 11 percent below the Northern Ontario average. The administration’s proposal would see us fall even further behind. We will not accept this.
- Financial Exigency: The Employer wants to remove the power of Senate to have a say in the Exigency Process. We will not accept this.
- The Criteria Document: The Employer and the Union have both tabled a Criteria Document. We are awaiting a response from the Employer on our proposed document.
You can help support your bargaining team by wearing one of our s
tickers. We need to show the administration, students, and the public that we are standing together to protect high-quality education at Algoma University. To get your stickers, contact any member of your bargaining team:
