On June 22, OPSEU/SEFPO’s bargaining team met virtually with the College Employer Council (CEC) to exchange proposals in the negotiation of their first renewal collective agreement covering over 10,000 college support part-time members.
The teams will meet again this Friday, June 25, for day two of bargaining. A third day of bargaining is scheduled for Wednesday, June 30, with future dates beyond June still to be set.
Message from the President and FVP/T: Focus is key
We are pleased to see bargaining has begun for our college part-time support members. We know they’ve been working extremely hard since getting elected to this important and very challenging role.
The first day at the table almost always sees the two bargaining teams outline their proposals and get the lay of the land. They know it’s likely they’ll need time to determine if there is sufficient common ground between the parties to reach to a tentative agreement.
Focus is key when it comes to labour negotiations, with the goal being a tentative agreement that meets the needs of the membership. We’re confident we’ll come out of these talks with improvements that will bring more fairness to you, our hardworking part-time support members, and greater recognition of your vital role.
You can have confidence in your outstanding bargaining team and in the expert OPSEU/SEFPO staff supporting them at the table. It’s a winning combination.
In solidarity,
