As we set out for one of the most important bargaining rounds our division has weathered, your College Support Full-Time Bargaining Team and Local delegates from across the province gathered in Toronto from May 3-4 to set key priorities for our shared fight.
Delegates also elected their peers to key committees holding down the fight for better working conditions and greater employer accountability in our colleges. You can find a full list of updated committees at the bottom of this email.
Your responses to our March 2025 bargaining survey underscored the recommendations ratified by your peers, which will go on to shape proposals at the table: better wages and job security; improved benefits; stronger lay-off/recall, health & safety, and leaves of absence language; no concessions; and far more.
This division has deep roots. As the oldest bargaining unit in the college system, our labour has powered colleges and the generations of workers they support since 1968. Our history, and our relationship, are the source of our power.
And we’re not just fighting for the future of our work this round, we’re also fighting for the future of our communities – because the current blueprint for our colleges, piloting us into crisis, is a race to the bottom.
When we fight at the bargaining table, we fight for all of us. Every contract negotiation, every organizing campaign shapes our collective future, deciding whether we go forwards or backwards together.
As we move closer to giving Notice to Bargain – June 2nd – and our first dates at the table, you can expect regular and frequent updates in the coming weeks and month. Keep updated and talk to your co-workers about what’s going on: if we’re going to raise the ceiling for workers across Ontario, it will take all of us.
Solidarity,
