During these unprecedented times, we see the world racing to find an answer to COVID-19. And we’ve heard a lot of advice on what we should do to protect ourselves and those around us. While there have been missteps and learning pains, we are all hopeful that we have turned the bend on this dreaded virus, and that everyone will continue to work together to prevent the predicted next wave.

But as if the pandemic wasn’t enough on our stress levels, we were then horrified and angered after witnessing the heinous death of a black man at the hands of police. It constituted nothing less than a hate crime from an officer who took an oath to serve and protect. These are supposed to be the people we tell our children to turn to in times of need. How do we find comfort amidst all the turmoil?

The Region 5 Coalition of Racialized Workers (CoRW) would like to invite all OPSEU Region 5 members to join us for a Zoom Pulse Check to help us navigate the steps to healing.
