OPSEU/SEFPO members at Chartwell Wedgewood are standing together to fight for fair wages, better working conditions and better benefits!

Chartwell Retirement Homes is a multi-million-dollar company that reports millions in profits each year. Despite this, they are offering pay increases as little as 23 cents to the lowest paid workers, putting them just pennies above minimum wage. This is not right.

Join us in calling on Chartwell CEO Vlad Volodarski and COO Karen Sullivan to come to the table with a fair deal that reflects the valuable work of OPSEU/SEFPO members at Chartwell Wedgewood!

Add your name here, and we’ll send the Volodarski and Sullivan the message below on your behalf.

Email Subject: Chartwell – Bargain a Fair Deal with Wedgewood Workers!

To: Vlad Volodarski – CEO: [email protected], Karen Sullivan – COO: [email protected]

Here’s the text of the email that will be sent on your behalf:

I am deeply concerned that Chartwell Retirement Homes, despite profiting millions of dollars each year, is offering wage increases of as little as 23 cents to the lowest paid workers this round of bargaining. This would put many workers only pennies above minimum wage. This is not acceptable for a company as profitable as Chartwell. The workers at Wedgewood deserve a meaningful wage increase and improved benefit coverage to reflect the important work they do to keep your facilities running with care and compassion.

These workers kept your facilities running during a global pandemic that saw long term care and retirement homes suffer under the weight of a failing healthcare system and deadly virus. These are the workers that got you through those tough times and are still dealing with the aftermath, they deserve better than the 1.5% wage increase you are offering. It is time for Chartwell to take care of the workers with the same dedication and care that they have displayed at your facilities.

By negotiating a fair deal with proper compensation, Chartwell will improve the ability to recruit and retain skilled workers who are dedicated to providing the best care possible to residents at your Wedgewood facility.

Workers are ready to come to the table to negotiate a fair deal. As the CEO and COO of Chartwell, I urge you to act immediately to ensure that Chartwell comes to the table with a deal that reflects the value of the workers at your Wedgewood facility.

Sincerely,
