OPSEU/SEFPO would like to extend a most heartfelt holiday greeting to all our Jewish members, staff, and friends during this festive time of Hanukkah.
Also known as Chanukah or the Festival of Lights, the festival of Hanukkah is a major Jewish celebration which in 2020 begins the evening of December 10 will end December 18.
Hannukah is a time for celebration and festivities where Jewish people around the world light the symbolic candle holder known as a Menorah. The holiday celebrates the rededication of the second holy temple during the second century B.C. The Jews light the Menorah, say prayers, play with dreidels, eat lots of traditional foods including latkas (potato pancakes), and spend time with loved ones.
Unfortunately, this is a difficult time for many as 2020 has brought about incredible challenges.
We understand how distressing it can be to not be able to celebrate in person with extended family and friends. Despite the challenges we are facing as a society, we want to take this opportunity to wish you a happy and healthy Hanukkah.
We are all in this together.
Happy Hanukkah!
