May 1 is International Workers Day, also known as May Day – a day for workers around the world to celebrate worker solidarity and recommit to the fight for workers’ rights everywhere.
There are lots of ways OPSEU/SEFPO members can celebrate and take action on May Day, and throughout the month of May. Here are just a few:
Vote for public hospitals in the Ontario Health Coalition’s citizen-run referendum throughout May!
You can vote in person at a voting station near you (coming soon), or vote online starting May 2.
From the website: “Please make your opinion heard! This is a citizen-run referendum on the Ontario government’s plan to privatize our core public hospital services to for-profit hospitals and for-profit clinics.”

Sign up for the Enough is Enough campaign and plan to attend a June 3 event near you!
Are you fed up with the rich getting richer while workers struggle to get by?

- Real wage increases
- Keep schools and health care public

- Make the banks and corporations pay.

If you live in the GTA or are planning to travel there during May, check out the Mayworks Festival event program! All events are free, but for some events with limited capacity, registration is required.
