As we honour Black History Month, your Equity Executive Board Members are proud to share a curated resource to help our members engage, learn, and celebrate Black history, culture and contributions.
We’ve put together a guide featuring events, readings and media to help deepen understanding and solidarity with our Black communities across Ontario.
You will find:
- Events by Region: A diverse range of events hosted by OPSEU/SEFPO’s Coalition of Racialized Workers and Black organizations across the province. From panel discussions to virtual celebrations, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved, no matter the location!
- What to Watch: A list of films and documentaries that highlight the stores, struggles, and triumphs of Black individuals and communities
- What to Read: Articles, books and publications that offer insights into Black history and culture. Whether you’re looking for non-fiction or fiction, there is something for everyone to discover. We have also included a youth section to engage our children in educational readings.
We created this resource to provide ways for our members to actively engage with Black History Month in meaningful ways. We encourage you, our members, to take part in local events, watch thought-provoking films and read works that challenge and expand your understanding.
You can access the full resource here: https://linktr.ee/blackhistorymonthopseu
Please go to the OPSEU/SEFPO website calendar to find out about events happening in your region!
Let’s continue to support, celebrate and learn from the rich contributions of Black people throughout the year, not just in February, but every single day.
Together, we can build an inclusive future that honours all voices!
