Dear members,
We are happy to announce that we have now secured August 23, 2022 as our Interest Arbitration hearing date. Your bargaining team will be meeting in the coming months to prepare for the hearing with our OPSEU/SEFPO Negotiator and Research Officer.
As outlined in last November’s bargaining update, we will discuss our outstanding key concerns, including wages, a commitment to full-time positions, Sunday double time for all members, shift premiums, vacation improvements and sick time.
Message from your Bargaining Team Chair
The bargaining team is so grateful for all the support you’ve shown us in the past months. Bargaining is always a challenge, and rightly so considering how important of a task it is – securing a strong collective agreement for hundreds of Canadian Blood Services workers.
We work hard at our jobs, taking every precaution necessary to keep our blood supply safe and providing excellent service to every person that walks through CBS doors. We’ve continued to provide quality care despite the challenges the pandemic has brought, including low staffing levels. We deserve better, and we will fight for better.
As we prepare to head into arbitration, your bargaining team will stay focused on the mandate you’ve given us to achieve a solid collective agreement.
In solidarity,
Geoff Cain, Bargaining Team Chair
