Due to the ongoing situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, on April 6th OPSEU’s Executive Board voted to cancel plans to hold the union’s annual convention scheduled for May 21st.
The Executive Board made the tough decision due to the state of emergency declared by the City of Toronto that cancelled all large events, non-essential services and closed many facilities until at least June 2020, including the ongoing closure of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
It is not clear how long the state of emergency will remain in force therefore plans to reschedule the event cannot be made at this time. OPSEU will examine all alternative arrangements to fulfil our regulatory obligations as laid out in the Constitution.
