Last Wednesday was Bring Your Kid to Work Day at OPSEU and seven youngsters came to OPSEU head office to see the work their parents do and learn about all of the many services OPSEU staff provide to members.

OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas gave the young visitors a history lesson about OPSEU and let them in on one of his biggest secrets: Where his nickname Smokey came from.

“OPSEU is delighted to be part of Bring Your Kid to Work Day,” Thomas said.  “It’s important they know about the work their parents do and it might inspire them to work in the labour movement or promoting progressive issues.”

“This is one of my favourite days of the year,” said Thomas. “Young people energize and inspire me to continue fighting for the rights that working people deserve.”
