CBS Bloodlines Bargaining Bulletin
Issue #6, February 9, 2018
For OPSEU Support members working at Canadian Blood Services
Your CBS bargaining team has heard our members loud and clear. You rejected the tentative agreement in September, 2017, citing numerous concerns which were discussed at length at ratification meetings. You also gave us a strong 89 per cent strike vote in November, 2017. This sent the employer a strong message that Canadian Blood Services workers will do what it takes to settle a new collective agreement.
On December 12, 2017, your bargaining team returned to the negotiating table with the employer and the conciliator present. You can be assured that your concerns were voiced at that table. CBS Support workers deserve a fair contract, and are united in demanding one.
Your OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas would like to assure all of the CBS Support members that the union has your back. “As OPSEU members, you have the full strength of your union in your continued negotiations.”
The parties have agreed to two more conciliation dates of February 27 and February 28, 2018.
Please stay tuned for further updates following our February meetings.
