The membership voted on the tentative agreement reached on September 26th and the after the votes held across the province over the last past few weeks the tentative agreement was rejected by 75% of the membership.
What’s next
The Union is looking to get back to the table with the Employer as soon as possible and has applied for Conciliation.
Conciliation Process
Conciliation is a mandatory step that must be taken before a strike can occur. The parties works with a Conciliation Officer, who will help the parties reach a deal.
No Board Report
If an impasse results and the parties are unable to reach a deal either the Union or the Employer can ask the Conciliation Officer to request a “No Board Report”.
Once a No Board Report has been issued the parties can continue to bargain however seventeen (17) days from the date of issuance either the Union or the Employer will be in a legal strike or lockout position.
The Bargaining Team will continue to update the membership once dates have been confirmed to return to the bargaining table.
