On May 29 we had our Bill 124 wage reopener interest arbitration hearing before arbitrator William Kaplan. This reopener affects bargaining units that are part of our central agreement.
At the hearing, we made submissions for consideration that would provide our members with the recognition they deserve.
With Bill 124’s artificial wage limitations removed, we argued that it is critical for our compensation to be significantly enhanced – not only to recognize the contributions and sacrifices that hospital professionals made during the COVID-19 pandemic, but also to address high inflation, the cost-of-living crisis, and to improve recruitment and retention.
It is uncertain when Kaplan will issue his award, but we will provide a further update as soon as the award is released.
