Kristi Goerzen was trained as a Youth Worker at Creighton Youth Centre in Kenora. For the past few years she has worked with youth in conflict with the law helping to rehabilitate them. Kristi enjoys working closely with these young people to support them as they combat complex issues and competing needs.

Last year, Kristi spearheaded the effort to create a Wellness Committee at Creighton to promote health and wellness within the work environment and at home. She has been Chair of this committee since February 2019 and continues to work hard to plan events to foster team cohesion and overall wellness.

In her free time Kristi enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, swimming, and baking. On a rainy day you can find her relaxing on her yoga mat, or curled up with a good book.

COVID 19 Impact Statement

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge to us all. As an essential worker I have had to continue working through the pandemic to ensure both community safety and the safety and support of our residents.

We have been relatively fortunate to be able to still work closely with the youth and keep to our normal schedule. Of course, we’ve had some major changes to how we do things (lots of extra cleaning and sanitizing, social distancing, screening upon entry, new intake procedures etc.), but we are adapting well. Unfortunately, we have had to cease planning group events for the Wellness Committee, but we have been able to host some virtual events which were well received, and put out a newsletter allowing us to share some health and wellness tips.
