Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation assistants at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH), voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining OPSEU/SEFPO.
They’re joining existing Diagnostics Imaging and Lab Technicians in OPSEU/SEFPO Local 347.
Therapists and rehabilitation assistants, like other Health Professionals do important work that is critical to our public healthcare system. They deserve transparency and consistency from the employer and job security.
“We’re pleased to welcome all rehabilitation professionals to OPSEU/SEFPO Local 347 in Collingwood. These workers want to be seen as equals in the workplace and have their concerns heard and addressed. It’s finally time for the collective voice of PTs, OTs and Assistants to be heard,” said President JP Hornick.
“This is a key moment in our history as we have achieved a landmark pay equity plan and Arbitration award that sets the stage to strengthen public healthcare and address recruitment and retention,” said Region 3 Regional Vice-President and Chair of the Hospitals Professional Division, Sara Labelle. “We are so pleased that you chose OPSEU/SEFPO as your union – to fight against privatization and for better working conditions. We will tackle Bill 60 and all other threats to patient care together.”
