Staff at Anishnawbe Health Toronto (AHT) now stand with 180,000 members across Ontario after recently voting in strong favour of joining OPSEU/SEFPO.
Located across Toronto, Anishnawbe Health Toronto is a multi-disciplinary community health centre with the objective of supporting Indigenous communities by prioritizing both traditional and western approaches to treatment and care. New members across AHT’s three locations are Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, Registered Dieticians, Counsellors, Healers, Social Workers, and Administrative staff.
“I’m honoured to welcome OPSEU/SEFPO’s newest members from Anishnawbe Health Toronto who do such important work. The wide range of care you provide as a group improves quality-of-life, and aids in the preservation of Indigenous culture and identity. On behalf of the OPSEU/SEFPO family, welcome, and we look forward to standing with you at the bargaining table.”
- JP Hornick, President of OPSEU/SEFPO
“The Indigenous Circle is a member-driven OPSEU/SEFPO committee that works to embody Indigenous values and practices within the union, as well as to increase awareness and understanding of Indigenous issues throughout the membership and the broader public. In addition to the valuable work you do, the Indigenous Circle is one of the many ways in which members at AHT can become involved in organizing and prioritizing Indigenous knowledge systems in all of our workplaces.”
- Krista Maracle, Chair of the Indigenous Circle
“Welcome OPSEU/SEFPO members at AHT who have united with so many other valuable health care professionals across Ontario. Know that OPSEU/SEFPO Community Health Care members have each other’s backs in ensuring our voices are heard in the workplace. We look forward to working with you in negotiating your first contract.”
