Ambulance Communications Officers: Send us your videos!

OPSEU’s Ambulance Division and Ministry of Health MERC Team want to celebrate the important work that Ambulance Communications Officers (ACOs) do during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week this year (April 14-20, 2019)!

If you are an ACO and an OPSEU member, we want to hear from you! We are creating a promotional video about the highly-skilled work you do, and we need your help. We are asking OPSEU ACOs to send us a “selfie” video answering a few questions about your work.

Please take a video with your cell phone or camera, answering the questions below, and send it to our Dropbox by March 28, 2019.

What to do:

• Please make sure you shoot the video horizontally (landscape) if you are using your cell phone.
• Please try to answer the questions below in full sentences.
• Please make your answers brief – videos should be no more than a minute or two long.

What not to do:

• Please do not shoot these videos in the workplace.
• Please do not shoot these videos in uniform – just wear your regular clothes.
• Please do not share identifying details about your patients.
• Please do not name your workplace.

Questions for you to answer on camera:

1. Please start the video by saying and spelling your first and last name and your phone number with area code (we won’t make this part public – we just need to know who you are and how to reach you).
2. Please state your first name and the city/town where you live as well as your job title in a complete sentence.
   (E.g. “My name is ” ” and I live in ” “, Ontario, and I’m an Ambulance Communications Officer.”)
3. Briefly tell us something non-work-related about yourself.
   (E.g. family, kids, pets, hobbies – one or two sentences at most.)
4. Name one interesting thing you did at work recently to help someone.
   (e.g. “I helped someone deliver a baby” or “I helped someone use their epipen.”)
   Please ensure that you do not provide details that could identify a patient.
5. What tools do you work with in your office that help you to do your job?
6. Tell us something you do at work that the public might not realize you do.
7. When you are multi-tasking at work, what kinds of things do you have to do at the same time?
