Update on Strategic Planning Meetings with Local Presidents

Following the November 2024 Broader Public Sector (BPS) Conference, Sector Executives have been meeting with local leaders from Boards of Education and Cultural Institutions to plan for the future and discuss what support is needed from the Sector. These strategic planning meetings have been highly productive and well-received by local presidents and senior representatives who took part.

  • Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) – Local 543:Contract has expired and are currently awaiting bargaining dates from the Employer.

Dues reminder

This is a gentle reminder to all local units to please submit your Sector dues. Your dues are essential to promoting our Sector and the valuable work we do in our teaching and learning communities.

Dues invoices and reminders are issued by Donna Caissie, Treasurer of Sector 3 ([email protected]).

Upcoming Campaigns

Potential cuts to education funding could result in significant job losses across the Sector, including in vital positions such as Educational Assistants (EAs), Early Childhood Educators (ECEs), and instructors in LINC, ESL, and FSL programs –roles that are critical to supporting student success and creating inclusive learning environments.

In response, the Sector is proactively working to address funding concerns and is preparing targeted advocacy efforts to raise both public and political awareness. One key initiative is the Underfunded and Unsafe: Ontario students deserve better campaign, which underscores the urgent need for sustained investment in education.

As part of this campaign, a new online letter writing campaign has just launched! You can personalize and send your email now to Premier Doug Ford and your local MPP, urging them to prioritize and protect funding for public education.
