Educational workers experience violence in the workplace – our schools – every single day. These are real stories from educational workers represented by OPSEU/SEFPO. When schools refuse to provide enough educational workers to support students who require one-on-one attention and behavioural and physical supports, it results in behaviours and situations that cause injury to both staff and other students. Violence is not “part of the job” for education workers. By supporting students more, we can prevent violence. That means hiring enough staff and designing a system that works for children who require supports to flourish at school.
