The PWC is an advocate for women within the union, and especially at the local level. It works to develop and promote programs or events that encourage more women to participate in union activities. The PWC also initiates campaigns in the workplace and community for women's rights.
The role of the Provincial Young Workers Committee (PYC) is to promote young worker involvement in the Union and to advocate and educate around young worker issues. PYC is dedicated to bringing new ideas, energy and activism to OPSEU/SEFPO with the goal to promote educate, motivate, mobilize and empower young workers whenever and wherever possible.
The PHRC assists in establishing local and other human rights committees within Ontario and in OPSEU/SEFPO’s regions. It develops and promotes programs that encourage all members to participate in Union activities, and increases awareness and understanding of workplace, community, national and international human rights issues.
The function of this committee is to assist in establishing regional francophone committees/caucuses; to develop and promote programs or events to encourage Francophone workers to participate in union activities; and to increase awareness and understanding of issues affecting francophone and related equity issues throughout the membership; to promote equity of status and use of Canada’s two official languages while respecting their linguistic and cultural differences.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/SEFPO) affirms that each of the Indigenous groups in Canada has its own language, culture, traditions and self- governing structure. The Disability Rights Caucus includes up to ten OPSEU/SEFPO members from throughout the Province who are committed to network, advocate, educate and increase the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. The Caucus desires that its membership reflect a wide range of disabilities, both visible and non-visible.
OPSEU/SEFPO’s Rainbow Alliance arc-en-ciel provides representation and support to our trans, bisexual, lesbian, gay, intersex, asexual, pansexual, queer, questioning, two-spirited (TBLGIAPQQ2S) members. We promote equality and a harassment-free work environment. Tackling discrimination in the workplace means addressing and tackling discrimination in our communities, unions and homes.
