Conference Call

September 1, 2016

The Executive Board was called to order at 10:15 a.m. President Thomas was in the Chair. All members were present except Len Elliott, Laurie Nancekivell, Phillip Shearer, the reason was acceptable to the Chair.  Peggy Maybury, Executive Assistant to the President, was also in attendance.

Mental Health Division anti-violence planning – additional day Oct 16, 2016

Therefore be it resolved that the OPSEU Executive Board waive the 30-day notice for expenses in excess of $20,000.

Therefore be it resolved that the Executive Board approve the funds in the attached budget proposal, to be drawn from the Contingency Fund, for a campaign planning day to be added to the Mental Health Division’s October 2016 meeting of its Local Presidents and Health and Safety co-chairs in response to the urgent matters of workplace violence in Ontario’s mental health services and facilities.

Corrections member budget – Mental Health Division Anti-Violence Campaign

Therefore be it resolved that the Executive Board approve the funds attached in the budget proposal, to be drawn from the Contingency Fund and invite the leadership of the Corrections MERC and Health and Safety teams to attend and participate in the Health and Safety and Anti-Violence training and planning in recognition of their common experience with the urgent matters arising from increasing workplace violence in their respective workplaces.
