Conference Call

The Executive Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. President Thomas was in the Chair. All Board members were present. Peggy Maybury, Executive Assistant to the President, was also in attendance.

Therefore be it resolved that the OPSEU Executive Board waives the 30-day notice for expenditures in excess of $20,000.

Whereas OPSEU represents 155,000 members across the Ontario Public Service, the Broader Public Service and Community Colleges; and

Whereas the election of Doug Ford as premier of Ontario requires OPSEU to be proactive in protecting our vital public services; and

Whereas solidarity, unity and cohesiveness are the key to mounting any needed fight back campaign or campaigns; and

Whereas OPSEU has a proud history of taking on the right wing agenda in this province; and

Whereas our regional structure is vital to a successful response to the Ford agenda of so-called efficiencies and privatization;

Therefore be it resolved that OPSEU’s Executive Board approve funds for a special one day meeting of all local presidents to be held centrally in Toronto in October 2018, in order to communicate, strategize and outline the process for campaigns to protect members, our families and our communities; and

Be it further resolved that the funds are to be drawn from the Contingency Fund.
