THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the OPSEU Executive Committee recommend to the OPSEU Executive Board that the members (all) from Local 122 merge with the members from Local 121; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Charter of Local 122 be dissolved; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT any funds remaining in the account of local 122 be moved to local 121 and the account of local 122 be closed.

Merger of Local 547 to Local 511

WHEREAS the Government of Ontario has closed the Thistletown Regional Centre, formerly represented by OPSEU Local 547; and,
WHERAS the remaining 14 members of local 547 were divested from the OPS and transferred to the Halton Trauma Centre (Radius Child and Youth Services); and,
WHERAS the members of local 547 have voted unanimously to join Local 511, a BPS local representing developmental services workers at Surrey Place; and,
WHERAS the members of Local 511 have voted to accept the members of Local 511 at the Halton Trauma Centre (Radius Child and Youth Services) into Local 511 as a new unit; and,
WHEREAS following the transfer of these members to Local 511, there will be no members or bargaining units remaining in Local 547,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Executive Committee recommend to the OPSEU Executive Board that i) the members of Local 547 at the Halton Trauma Centre (Radius Child and Youth Services) be transferred to Local 511, and ii) the charter of Local 547 be dissolved, effective as of April 13, 2015, and iii) that the president send a letter to the members of the former local 547 and the officers of Local 511, confirming the Board’s decision.

International Youth Day Conference

WHEREAS the International Youth Day Conference has been expanded to a two and a half day event in 2015; and
WHEREAS it may be more difficult for members from Region 5 to travel back and forth if they are not staying at the hotel; and
WHEREAS it may be equally difficult for these members to network with other young workers from across the province.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the 60 kilometer rule be waived for the Wednesday and Thursday nights of the 2015 International Youth Day Conference and that up to a maximum of $3000 be added to the 2015 International Youth Day budget line, if necessary. The funds are to be taken from the Contingency Fund.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Solidarity Reserve Fund provide up to $5,000 for legal expenses incurred by the member in each of the two legal proceedings arising from her claim for LTD benefits, on the conditions that: 1) the members’ counsel and his or her rates are approved by OPSEU Counsel; 2) the member’s counsel provides satisfactory reporting letters as the matters progress; and 3) the member’s counsel makes reasonable efforts to recover legal costs as part of any settlement or order.
