Title: Supervisor (400-11), Pensions & Benefits/Health & Safety
Location: Coopers Office – 5757 Coopers Ave. Mississauga, ON. L4Z 1R9
Reporting To: Administrator, Legal Services Division
Start Date: To be determined
Salary: $2,115.00 to $2,431.00 per week 
Working Conditions: As provided in the ASU/OPSEU Collective Agreement

Principal Duties:

  • Supporting, promoting and ensuring alignment with the Organization’s vision and values and exercising sound judgement to further OPSEU’s objectives
  • Implement the organization’s strategic plan, goals and objectives
  • Participate in strategic planning on issues associated with the unit(s)
  • Set goals and plans for the unit(s) and monitors activities to ensure objectives are met and reports on progress
  • Oversees, monitors and manages the staff of the unit(s) and ensures backup for all positions.
  • Delegates work; responsible for staff assignments; manages performance; fosters employee development and participates in recruitment
  • Develops operating policy and procedures for the unit(s)
  • Liaises with supervisors and staff from other areas of the Organization as required
  • Manages resources (human, physical and financial) to achieve goals of the Unit
  • Plans, establishes and monitors budgets for unit(s)
  • Prepares a variety of reports as required
  • Builds and manages on going relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Participates in activities of various committees
  • Evaluates ideas and researches industry best practices within area of expertise
  • Promotes and maintains a safe, secure and productive environment for employees
  • Plans and develops policy, procedures and processes related to the unit(s)
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Requires an undergraduate degree (or an equivalent combination of education and experience and five years of related work experience)
  • Requires computer literacy skills at an intermediate level and relevant software packages
  • Tact and Diplomacy skills
  • Understanding and commitment to Labour /Social Democratic Philosophy
  • Understanding of Economic, Social and Political issues
  • Knowledge of OPSEU Vision and Values
  • Knowledge of OPSEU organization, structure and policies
  • Knowledge of applicable legislations, regulations and policies
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
