Title: Permanent Part-Time 'A'Typical Secretary (90-03) - 4 days
Location: Wellesley Regional Office, 31 Wellesley St East, Toronto, ON  M4Y 3A6
Reporting To: Supervisor, Regions 5
Start Date: To be determined
Salary: $1,357.00 to $1,464.00 per week (Range 6 - Support)
Working Conditions: As provided in the OPSSU/OPSEU Collective Agreement

Principal Duties:

To provide secretarial and clerical support services for the Grievance Officer in the Region:

  • Responds to enquiries
  • Liaises with staff in other areas of the organization and with outside contacts to facilitate work of the Grievance Officer (G.O)
  • Receives and relays messages
  • Maintains and updates records from filing systems and/or databases
  • Compiles summary reports from information
  • Types reports, composes letters and acknowledgements
  • Proofreads and corrects prepared materials for correct grammar, format, completeness, and content.
  • Tracks grievances at Arbitration
  • Makes arrangements for meetings
  • Compile materials for Arbitration
  • Makes travel arrangements and accommodation for Officer if required
  • Maintains and updates procedures manuals of own position
  • Sets up and organizes office systems
  • Processes members expense forms and lawyer invoices
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Requires a Community College Certificate plus a one year Secretarial Science Certificate or an equivalent combination of education and experience and two year related work experience
  • Requires intermediate PC skills and knowledge of relevant software packages 
  • Tact and Diplomacy skills
  • Understanding and commitment to Labour/Social Demographic Philosophy and Diversity
  • Knowledge of OPSEU organization, structure and policies
  • Knowledge of office administration and procedures
  • Knowledge of principles of basic office management
