Title: Clerk Typist #1 (07-01), Arbitrations Unit
Location: Head Office, 100 Lesmill Road, Toronto, ON
Reporting To: Supervisor, Arbitrations Unit
Start Date: To be determined
Salary: $1,175.00 to $1,222.00 per week (Range 4 – Support)
Working Conditions: As provided in the OPSSU/OPSEU Collective Agreement

Principal Duties:

Under the general direction of Arbitrations Supervisor, which includes but are not limited to:

  • Responds to enquiries
  • May liaise with staff in other areas of the organization and with outside contacts to facilitate work of the Unit
  • Receives and takes message and directs incoming calls and transmits to proper individual
  • Maintains and updates records from filing systems and/or databases
  • Determines needs for supplies for Unit and may orders supplies
  • Compiles summary reports from information as requested
  • May track and code invoices
  • Types reports, agreements, composes letters and acknowledgements
  • Proofreads and corrects materials for correct grammar, format, completeness and content
  • Assists in organizing materials for distribution
  • Sets up and organizes filing systems
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


  • One year Community College Certificate or a one year Secretarial Science Certificate (or an equivalent combination of experience and education) and two years related work experience
  • Requires intermediate PC skills and knowledge’s relevant software packages
  • Tact and Diplomacy skills
  • Knowledge of office management principles
  • Knowledge of OPSEU organization, structure and policies; knowledge of own Unit as well as familiarity of operations of other Units
  • Understanding and commitment to Labour/Social Democratic Philosophy and Diversity
