Title: Assistant to the Administrator (300-03), Local Services and Collective Bargaining Division
Location: OPSEU Head Office – 100 Lesmill Rd, North York, Ontario, M3B 3P8
Reporting To: Administrator, Local Services and Collective Bargaining Division
Start Date: To be determined
Salary: $1,745.00 to $1,894.00 per week 
Working Conditions: As provided in the ASU/OPSEU Collective Agreement

Applicants interested in applying must be able to fulfill the following qualifications listed below:

Principal Duties:

  • Assists in the Organization and flow of the work within the Division
  • Develops and maintain appropriate filing/storage system
  • Manages incoming correspondence and inquires and initiates follow-up action
  • Assists with budget preparation and monitoring
  • Books appointments, teleconferencing, web conferences and meeting and produces agenda and minutes as needed
  • Drafts memoranda, letters and legal documentations as directed and assists with preparation of confidential submissions
  • Handles confidential issues and maintains confidential files
  • Liaises between Administrator and individuals at all levels, both internal and externally and may include government officials
  • Undertakes special projects and compiles and summarizes information and data for review by the Administrator
  • Acts independently in the absence of the Administrator
  • Prepares staffing backfill requests
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Community College Certificate plus a two years of Secretarial Science Certificate (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and four years related work experience
  • Requires advanced PC skills and knowledge’s relevant software packages
  • Tact and Diplomacy skills
  • Knowledge of principles and basic office management
  • Knowledge of OPSEU organization, structure and policies and of own unit as well as familiarity of operations of other Unit
  • Understanding and commitment to Labour/Social Democratic Philosophy and Diversity
