Title: Accounts Payable Clerk #1 (15-01), Accounting Unit  
Location: Head Office, 100 Lesmill Road, Toronto, ON
Reporting To: Supervisor, Accounting Unit
Start Date: To be determined
Salary: $1,320.00 to $1,378.00 per week (Range 5 – Support)
Working Conditions: As provided in the OPSSU/OPSEU Collective Agreement

Principal Duties:

Under the general direction of the Accounting Supervisor, the duties include but are not limited to:

  • Processes invoices, accountable warrants and cheque requisitions
  • Reviews and verify’ s invoices and check requests
  • Sorts, codes and matches invoices
  • Enters and uploads invoices into system
  • Tracks expenses and processes expense reports
  • Prepares and processes electronic transfers and payments
  • Prepares and performs check runs
  • Posts transactions to the Journals, Ledgers and other records
  • Reconciles accounts payable transactions
  • Prepares analysis of accounts
  • Monitors accounts to ensure payments are up-to-date
  • Researches and resolves invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Maintains files and responds to inquiries
  • Produces financial reports
  • Provides supporting documentation for audits
  • Other related duties as assigned


  • Requires a Community College Certificate in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience and one year related work experience
  • Community College Diploma in Accounting and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Requires intermediate PC skills and knowledge of relevant software packages
  • Tact and Diplomacy skills
  • Numeracy skills
  • Understanding and commitment to Labour/Social Demographic Philosophy and Diversity
  • Knowledge of OPSEU organization, structure and policies
  • Knowledge of Accounting unit procedures and policies
  • Knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures
  • Knowledge of general Accounting principles
