To: All Highest-Ranking members in the Liquor Board Employees Division
We have buttons to wear in the workplace!
Our campaign against the sale of beer and wine in grocery stores is heating up. Last week, we told you about radio ads that are airing this summer in Toronto, in cottage country and along the Highway 400 and Highway 35/115 corridors. The ads are meant to start a conversation about the social harm that will result from increasing access to alcohol.
Before we produced the radio ads, we held focus groups in Toronto and London with members of the public. The participants agreed that LCBO employees do a great job of selling people alcohol within the confines of the law.
We need all members to wear our buttons. We know it can be a challenge to get to all the stores. We are here to help you with this task. We can ship to stewards' homes or to their OPSEU regional office. Please work with your LEC to determine quantities and then email Mary-Anne DiAdamo, [email protected]. Let her know your Local number, the quantities required, and the names and mailing addresses of the members receiving the buttons in order to distribute to their stores, warehouses and head office.
In solidarity,
President Warren (Smokey) Thomas
