Tim Horton’s workers ratify contract at St. Clair College

Thirteen Tim Horton’s employees at St. Clair College in Windsor, represented by OPSEU, have unanimously ratified their new contract.

The three-year deal will see wages increase by as much as 14.5 per cent for one category of workers over the length of the contract. Other classifications will see wage hikes of up 10.3 per cent over three years. There have also been improvements to the benefit package enjoyed by the outlet’s permanent employees.

The employees work at the coffee chain’s kiosk located at the Student Centre on campus. The franchise is owned by the student administrative council but contract negotiations are conducted with a food service management company that is responsible for staffing the location. “

The students and staff in the Tim Horton’s kiosk are an important part of our local,” said Florry Foster, president of OPSEU local 137 at St. Clair College. “We are always met with a smiling face and a coffee. Allowing the staff to be a part of the negotiation process allows for the development of a skill set that is not usually achieved in small sectors and we are proud of our members.”
