On Monday September 25, OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas reached out to local Member of Provincial Parliament Sophie Kiwala (Kingston and the Islands) about the funding crisis in Kingston health care.
In his letter, Thomas expressed concern about the increasing contracting-out of back-office and facilities services — at the cost of patient care, public services, and the dedicated workers struggling to keep up with rising pressures in the health care system.
At a meeting this Friday, he will be calling on the local MPP to stand up for the community she represents, and be mindful that an election is fast approaching.
We’ll continue to keep you posted, so stay tuned for more information!
