Full contest rules

The six contest prizes are shOPSEU gift certificates in the following amounts: One $200 gift certificate, one $100 gift certificate, and four $50 gift certificates. These prizes are offered by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). Only one entry per OPSEU member who is registered and holds a credential to attend Convention 2019 is allowed.

How to enter:

OPSEU members who are registered and hold a credential to attend Convention 2019 and who have signed up for an account in the online OPSEU Member Portal www.opseu.org/members-login can enter the contest by filling out one ballot at the Together to Win booth in the OPSEU Convention Market Place and dropping it into the ballot box by Friday, May 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

OPSEU members who are registered and hold a credential to attend Convention 2019 and who do not have an account in the online OPSEU Member Portal must sign up for a member portal account at www.opseu.org/members-login, prior to submitting a ballot, either in the OPSEU Convention Office, or on their personal devices, in order to be eligible for the contest. Once they have signed up, they can enter the contest as per the paragraph above.

Ballots will be made available at the Together to Win Convention Booth at the following times:

• Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Friday, May 24, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Ballots will only be given to OPSEU members who are registered and hold a credential to attend Convention 2019 once their active Online Member Portal account has been verified by staff at the Together to Win table in one of the following ways:

• An OPSEU staff person at the Together to Win table will verify the OPSEU member’s Online Member Portal activation by looking up the OPSEU member’s record in the OPSEU database.
• If the OPSEU member can show the OPSEU staff person at the Together to Win table their Online Member Portal account on their personal device, it will be accepted as verification.
• If the OPSEU member has signed up for the Online Member Portal too recently to show up in the OPSEU database and therefore has no proof of registration, their verbal attestation to the OPSEU staff person at the Together to Win booth will be accepted as verification.

Random Draw

A random draw will be held from all ballots entered into the ballot box by 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019. The selected entrants will be notified by announcement at Convention 2019 after the draw, as well as by email or telephone if necessary after the date of the draw, and must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question in order to win. OPSEU staff will also verify that the selected entrants are signed up for the OPSEU Member Portal prior to prizes being awarded. In the event that a selected entrant has not responded to the notification within five days of a prize notification being sent, another entry will be drawn.

Prizes

The contest prizes consist of six monetary prizes: one $200 prize, one $100 prize, and four $50 prizes. Each prize will be awarded to one entrant that has been randomly selected. The monetary prize is courtesy of OPSEU. The prize will be awarded as gift certificates to the shOPSEU and must be accepted by the winner as awarded.

Eligibility

The winning entrants must be verifiable members in good standing of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) who are registered and hold credentials to attend the 2019 OPSEU Convention, must have an account in OPSEU’s Online Member Portal, must be 19 years old or older, and must be residents of Ontario, on the date of the draw. Entries are subject to verification and may be declared invalid. Employees of OPSEU are not eligible.

OPSEU will not be responsible for any failure of any entry to be received due to mail delivery or transport issues, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination.

OPSEU reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend this contest at any time.

This contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws.

By entering this contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless OPSEU, its officers, directors, members and employees from any claim of any kind or any liability arising from this contest, or the acceptance or use of a prize.

Entrants expressly consent to OPSEU collecting, storing, and using personal information submitted for the purposes of administering the contest, publicity using the contest winner’s name, union-related activities, and for any future use by OPSEU in its sole discretion.

OPSEU is the sole owner of information collected through this contest. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others.

By entering this contest, entrants agree that they have read and understand these rules and agree to comply with and be bound by them and by the decisions of OPSEU, which are final.
