Dear Members:
This is to advise you that the Sector 4 Children’s Aid Societies Recommendation Session Meeting has been scheduled.
- Date: Monday, December 6, 2021, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Virtual Meeting: Participation instructions will be provided to all attendees upon confirmation of attendance.
- Registration: Monday, December 6, 2021, 8:30 am – 9:00 am
We’d like to hear from you!
The Divisional Executive administered an equity survey to all stewards and highest ranking in December 2020. The results of the survey indicated support for the executive to pursue further action to support Locals/Units to address issues of systemic racism, harassment and bullying.
The survey indicated that the highest ranking body, including executive members, who were surveyed, are predominantly white. Before the Division proceeds with a broader campaign, the Equity Unit will be hosting a preliminary recommendation session for CAS members who self-identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, LGBTQ+, and persons with disabilities to discuss experiences and identify opportunities for the sector to support and initiate changes to address systemic barriers both in the workplace, locals and across the Union.
Applicants will receive a survey asking questions surrounding racism, harassment and bullying in the workplace. Please reserve some time to share your experiences and ideas for improvement.
The preliminary recommendation session on December 6th will be an opportunity to bring forth recommendations to combat the barriers mentioned in the survey.
