“Rising from the ashes of violence: a conversation with women for women”
All OPSEU members in Region 3 can apply to attend the Equity Conference on September 14-16, 2018 at the Fern Resort in Ramara, ON. Men who oppose sexism are invited to eavesdrop on this intimate, yet political conversation about how women and girls are rising from the ashes of violence. The Conference will include workshops and presentations on domestic violence, sex trafficking of women and girls, and missing and murdered Indigenous women. A closing ceremony on Sunday morning will be led by members of Chippewas of Rama First Nation and will include an honour dance to remember the Missing and Murdered Indigenous women who have yet to find justice.
Participants will bear witness to stories of violence against women that debunk preconceived myths they may have about the topic. By the end of the Conference, all will be better educated and inspired to find their own voice and add it to those of women already walking this path of healing. Together, we can all rise from the ashes of violence.
