COURSE SELECTIONS:

Workshop Choice 1 – Consists of the following 3 modules:

Poverty, Economics & Racism (3 hr)

Participants will develop an understanding of the impact of poverty, economics and racism on women and commit to challenge poverty and inequality in their communities and workplaces.

Challenging the Stigma – How to be an ally to Sex Workers (3 hr)

Participants will draw the links between sex work and labour rights and commit to challenging the stigma of sex work and becoming allies to sex workers.

Violence Against Women (3 hr)

Have This course will provide an opportunity for participants to explore issues of gender-based violence, and develop strategies for supporting women and countering violence through union structures, legislation and campaigns.

Workshop Choice 2 – Consists of the following 2 modules:

Organizing to Win (6 hr):The organizing to Win workshop explores principles, strategies and techniques of internal organizing as a process for empowering workers, strengthening the Local, and building a strong trade union movement. Participants will focus on network building, examine best practices, discuss organizing strategies and practice the one-on-one conversations that are at the core of internal organizing. Together we will build our power to create a movement that ensures all workers’ rights are respected.

LEC Leadership & Team Building (3 hr)

This course will strengthen the capacity of Local Executive Committees to work together to build inclusive, effective locals.

Option 3- Workers Health and Safety Centre (WHSC) Health and Safety Training:

Modules: Cancer (Elective); Toxic Substances; Myth of Worker Carelessness

This program intends to empower workers and their representatives with an understanding of Occupational Health and Safety. To complete the Level 1 program, the individual will be required to complete seven mandatory modules and three electives. Members who have previously taken Modules are to bring Participant Workbooks & Manuals.
