Protect OMERS Pension: Telephone Town Hall

If you are a member of the OMERS pension plan, you’ll want to be on this call.

In June 2020, the OMERS Sponsors Corporation Board will be voting on whether to take guaranteed indexing – our guaranteed cost of living raises in retirement – out of the plan.

OPSEU has told OMERS in no uncertain terms not to change the plan. You can read our full reasoning here, but it boils down to this: we have earned every penny of our raises in retirement, and they must be protected.

Join President Thomas on Tuesday, May 12 by phone or online

President Warren (Smokey) Thomas will be hosting two Telephone Town Hall sessions on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 to share information, answer your questions, and mobilize together to oppose this change to the OMERS pension plan. The sessions will also be livestreamed online.

You can choose the time that works best for you on May 12: 11 a.m. or 7 p.m.

If you would like to submit questions ahead of time for the call, please email them to OMERStownhall@opseu.org.

How to join the call

Just before 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on May 12, we will phone OPSEU’s OMERS members at the phone number we have on file. All you have to do is stay on the line when you get the call and you will be connected.

If you don’t receive a call by a few minutes after 11 a.m. or 7 p.m., you can still join us! Dial 1-877-229-8493, and enter access code 112847 and you’ll be on the call.

You can also listen live online by clicking this link.

During the call, you can choose to listen only, or you can follow the instructions on the call to ask any questions you might have.
