Toronto – Warren (Smokey) Thomas, President of OPSEU, and Chris Jackel, chair of the Ministry-Employee Relations Committee for correctional services, will hold a news conference about the Ford government’s inaction on the crisis in Ontario’s correctional system.

Date: Thursday, March 28, 2019
Time: 9.30 a.m.
Location: Queen’s Park media studio

“In opposition and during the election campaign, the Tories made a lot of promises to our corrections folks,” said Thomas. “Not only have they not kept those promises, but they’re not addressing the crisis in corrections.

“We’ve got the solutions. But since the Premier and Minister Jones refuse to talk to frontline staff and learn about what it’s really like in our correctional institutions, we’re going directly to MPPs to let them know what must be done to fix the crisis in corrections.”
