Building Strong OPS MERCs to Protect Front Line Workers
Sept. 25-26, 2019
OPSEU’s Central Employee Relations Committee (CERC) is hard at work with plans for the upcoming OPS Ministry Employee Relations Committees (MERC) training: “Building Strong MERCs to Protect Front Line Workers”.
MERC members are invited to attend this two-day event, which will examine the challenges faced by frontline workers in the current political and labour market. The training will highlight how capacity building within the union builds strong activists in the fight to protect members’ rights.
Participants will learn strategies to build an involved membership through contract enforcement and how to mobilize members through a mapping process. Effective communication and inclusive leadership skills and strategies to deal with employer tactics are just a few of the tools this training will offer.
This training event is a crucial opportunity for MERCs to engage our members, and lay the groundwork for the next round of bargaining.
Register today to participate in this chance to enhance your leadership role as we also fight back together against the challenge of the Ford government.
It’s the work we do at the grassroots level that makes the difference between success and failure.
Please note that this workshop is restricted to OPS MERC team members only.
