Dear Highest-Ranking Members:
This is to advise you that the Liquor Board Employees Division Leadership Day has been scheduled.
Date: Monday, March 6, 2023 9:00AM – 4:00PM
NOTE: This meeting will be held virtually.
The Liquor Board Employees Division Anti-Privatization Committee (APC) is pushing its mandate forward of coordinating the division’s fightback against the privatization of alcohol sales and distribution in Ontario. Last year, the province saw the Ford government re-elected with a larger majority. Shortly after the election, Ford met with 7-Eleven who’ve been issued liquor licenses for Brampton, Toronto, Sarnia, and London locations. Although, they’ve been green lit to serve alcohol, they still need to renovate their spaces to comply. Currently, Leamington is the only location that is set up to begin serving beer and wine. 7-Eleven’s push to gain market entry is not slowing down any time soon.
The focus of the day is to have a leadership conversation about advancing current strategies on the anti-privatization fightback and streamline next steps. We look forward to discussing strategies we can take back to our locals/units to motivate and encourage members to participate and take action in the workplace.
