The OPSEU Joint Health Care Bargaining Conference for Sector 8 (Long-Term Care), 11 (Hospital Support) and 18 (Mental Health Division agency units only) will take place on November 6 and 7, 2017 in Toronto. Representatives from each unit within the sectors will come together for two days to prepare for upcoming rounds of bargaining. The conference will have a joint information session on topics that are important to all three sectors, such as funding from the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) and provincial trends in bargaining. In addition, each sector will have its own breakout meetings to work on developing bargaining strategies and creating some standard language for future contact negotiations in the sector.
The divisional executives of Sectors 8, 11 and 18 are inviting each unit in your sector (8, 11 and agencies only from sector 18) to send one representative from each unit to the conference. This conference should be attended by the bargaining team chair if already elected. If no election has been held, the highest-ranking officer from each unit should attend. All divisional executive members are automatic representatives over and above the entitlement for your bargaining unit.
Alternates and Observers are entitled to attend the conference by unit; however, all expenses, including hotel costs, are to be paid for by their local.
Registration for the event must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Event registration or hotel availability/rate cannot be guaranteed after this date.
