On Labour Day this year, OPSEU members and their families will be joining their neighbours, communities and fellow workers at family-friendly picnics, BBQs, parades and rallies across Ontario to celebrate the strength and solidarity of the labour movement and the working class!

Here are a few events to choose from in each OPSEU region. Enjoy your Labour Day weekend!

Region 1:

London Labour Day Picnic

12 noon – 3 p.m. – Thames Park (4 Ridout St.). Free hot dogs, pop, ice cream, kids’ games and face painting!

Windsor Labour Day Parade and Picnic

9 a.m. – Parade starts at 1855 Turner Rd. Picnic at the end of the parade at Fogolar Furlan Club (800 North Service Rd.)

Chatham Labour Day Parade

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Kingston Park (Paxton Dr.). Free food, drinks, draws and music!

Sarnia Labour Day Parade

9 a.m. – Noon – Meet at Wellington and Christina St. Workers Unite Now!

Stratford Labour Day Parade

12-3 p.m. – Upper Queen’s Park (Lakeside Dr.). Free community lunch, live music, games and activities! Bring refillable water bottles.

Region 2:

Hamilton Labour day Parade, BBQ and Picnic

10:30 a.m. – Parade begins on Stuart St. United Way BBQ at the end of the parade at Bayfront Park (200 Harbour Front Dr.)

Brantford Labour Day Soap Box Derby

9 a.m. – Races begin at Icomm Dr. and Colborne St. Lots of fun for the whole family – for participants and fans!

Guelph Labour Day Picnic

12-3 p.m. – Riverside Park (709 Woolwich St.). Food music, info fair, children’s area with crafts.

Waterloo Labour Day Picnic

12-4 p.m. at Waterloo Park, Westmount entrance. BBQ with donation to United Way, children’s area, live music!

Merritton Labour Day Parade

9:30 a.m. – Meet at Pen Centre (Chestnut St. entrance by cinema, St. Catharines). Bring union flags and wear union shirts!

Barrie Labour Day Picnic

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Sunnidale Park. Free event, live music, all welcome! Bring refillable bottles and a lawn chair.

Lindsay Labour Day Picnic

12-3 p.m. – 16 Kent St. E. BBQ, refreshments, cakes, door prizes, music and games. Please support local food banks!

Orillia Labour Day Picnic

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Couchiching Beach Park. Live music, kids’ activities and BBQ!

Oshawa Labour Day BBQ and Picnic

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Memorial Park (110 Simcoe St. S.). Music, food, lots of activities for all generations – fun for all!

Peterborough Labour Day Picnic

12-3 p.m. – Nicholls Oval Park (725 Armour Road). BBQ, children’s entertainment, live music at the pavillion!

Region 4

Brockville Labour Day Picnic

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Hardy Park, Brockville. Everyone welcome! Free food, drinks, activities and live music.

Kingston Labour Day Parade and Picnic

10:30 a.m. – McBurney (Skeleton) Park. March to City Hall, then back to park for picnic! BBQ, karaoke, face painting, bouncy castle!

Ottawa Labour Day Parade and Picnic

Noon – Gather at Ottawa City Hall and march to McNabb Park for a free picnic. Live music, food, pony rides, games, moon bounce and more!

Pembroke Labour Day Family Fun Day

10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Pembroke Marina. Everything free! Hot dogs, inflatables, petting zoo, balloon artist, face painting.

Perth Labour Day Picnic

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Behind the Town Hall at the Perth Bandshell. Everyone welcome! Free food drinks, activities and live music by the Perth Citizens Band.

Region 5

Toronto Labour Day Parade

8:30 a.m. – Meet at University Ave. and Armoury St. (nearest subway stations: St. Patrick and Osgoode). March with OPSEU in the biggest Labour Day parade in the country! OPSEU has two floats, swag, great music and it all wraps up at the CNE!

North Bay Annual Labour Day Picnic

11:15 a.m. – North Bay Waterfront (Memorial Dr.). Free picnic for everyone! Burgers, hot dogs, family-friendly!

Sault Ste. Marie Labour Day Parade and Picnic

11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Roberta Bondar Pavillion (65 Foster St.)

Sudbury Labour Day in the Park

10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Bell Park. Fun family day with rally, march, games, entertainment, food vendors and info booths!

Timmins Labour Day Celebration at Gillies Lake

11 a.m. – Meet at MRCA building grounds (100 Lakeshore Rd.) for a march around Gillies Lake.
12 noon – Back to MRCA field for free BBQ, face painting, fish pond for kids and bouncy castles!

Region 7

Fort Frances Labour day BBQ

11 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Point Park. Free burgers, hot dogs, bouncy castles. Everyone welcome!

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Anicinabe Park. Everyone welcome, everything free! Bouncy castle, entertainment, face paitning, refreshments, hot dogs, cake.
