The Ottawa Hospital has secretly struck a deal to allow a surgeon-run, private corporation to perform surgeries on Saturdays in its operating rooms at the Riverside Campus, and poach hospital staff to work these surgeries, instead of extending its own operating hours to meet the demand for care.
We have the physical infrastructure to perform surgeries in our public hospitals, but we need to hire and retain the necessary staff to run our operating rooms instead of selling off these publicly-funded spaces to for-profit companies!
