Join the OPSEU/SEFPO Coalition of Racialized Workers (CORW) when they commemorate Asian Heritage Month on May 2, 2023.
This year’s event is: Hidden Histories – the year of the Rabbit, Chinese and Indigenous People’s Relationships. It will feature a presentation by Landy Anderson, Chair of the Foundation to Commemorate the Chinese Railroad Workers in Canada.
The Foundation to Commemorate the Chinese Railroad Workers in Canada works to dismantle systemic racism by incorporating an anti-oppression approach in everything that they do. One of their objectives is to create greater awareness around the government’s legislation of unjust immigration acts against Chinese pioneers and their families.
The Foundation’s monument, which honours Chinese railroad workers in Canada, stands as a significant representation of the historical injustices and racism that Chinese people faced during the building of the railroad. It is located in Northern Linear Park, 4 Blue Jays Way in downtown Toronto.
