OPSEU’s Broader Public Service (BPS) Conference is a gathering of members from over 500 bargaining units across the province. BPS members work in health care, in social services, and in education. They work in municipalities and at the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation. They work at the LCBO and for private contractors. They work in youth correctional services and cultural institutions like the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Royal Ontario Museum. Today, BPS members number more than 70,000, and the BPS Conference is the largest meeting of OPSEU members outside of the union's annual Convention.
This year's conference marks the 25th anniversary of the BPS as a recognized group within OPSEU. Our theme for the conference this year will be, "Work, Life and Beyond – Part 2." Continuing where we left off at the last BPS Conference, our plenary sessions will include discussions and guest speakers with expertise in financial planning for your retirement; a special panel on how to treat your collective agreement as a health and wellness document (with insights into negotiating language aimed at a better work and family life balance); and a session on learning to use social media to our advantage as activists. Following the plenary, we will have some special entertainment to conclude the day and celebrate the anniversary of the BPS within OPSEU.
Please join us in helping to make this conference one of the best ever, with full participation from all BPS units.
Attached are documents, including a special message from OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas, to help members start the process rolling in your locals and units.
Deadline for Registration: April 28, 2017
