We are excited to announce that this year’s Region 7 Leadership Conference is focused on building practical leadership skills and preparing your local for full participation at the next annual OPSEU/SEFPO Convention and beyond. The aim is to give the Leadership tools for solid communication with your Locals and organizations in your Community. This year’s conference will feature a new workshop on mobilizing/organizing your Local.

We are asking Local Presidents to attend and also recruit another member from your Local who is interested in moving the Union forward. If Local Presidents are unable to attend, please invite an alternate. Composite locals please select a member (or unit steward) from each of the units who is interested in becoming more involved in our Union.

The conference will begin with an evening meet and greet at 6:00 pm, on Thursday February 2, 2023 followed by dinner at 7:00 pm, Region 7 Awards presentation and an overview of the conference agenda will follow.

Beginning on Friday, participants will take part in a Building Local Capacity and organizing your Local workshop. On Saturday, the conference takes a practical approach to issues like crafting and submitting Resolutions to Convention, understanding Constitutional requirements and operating within Roberts’ Rules of Order. On Sunday, all of the skills development comes into play with the running of a Mock Convention.

Friday evening your Equity Committee members would like you to join them from 7:30 to 9:30 PM for an Equity social event at the Victoria Inn (room to be announced).

Wages, travel and accommodations will be covered for the event as per the Regional Education Policy.

‎Please contact Ed Arvelin R.V.P., Region 7 at 1-807-628-9187 or via e-mail at [email protected] with any questions.

Let’s make this year’s Leadership Conference a great event. Make your plans to attend.

Attendance Form, Time-off Letter Information, OPSEU Advance Form, Human Rights Accommodation Requests and Child Care Registration Forms are to be submitted to Cindy DiGiuseppe at the Thunder Bay Regional Office by Wednesday December 14, 2022.
