Important changes to OPSEU’s new province-wide telephone services

As many staff and executive board members know by now OPSEU has a new and improved telephone system in place.

Like most changeovers – especially those involving technology upgrades – there will be a transition period during which we learn to adapt to new ways of accessing OPSEU’s telephone system.

Users of the new Avaya system should be aware of the following changes which are now in effect:

  1. All callers must now dial 416-443-8888 or toll-free 1-800-268-7376 which will reach a Resource Centre representative. There are no longer any “backdoor” numbers to access regional offices.

  2. All staff, executive board members and committee chairs can now be accessed by 4-digit dialing.

After hours (5:30 p.m – 8 a.m.)

When calling 416-443-8888 and / or 1-800-268-7376 after hours, or other periods of closure, your call will be answered by an auto-attendant. At this point you can exercise any of the following options:

  1. Dial the 4-digit extension (if you know the number)

  2. Dial by spelling out the surname of the intended receiver

  3. Leave a message in the OPSEU Resource Centre night mailbox. Your message will be handled by staff the morning of the next business day.
