As the clock ticks down on an Oct. 6 strike
deadline members of OPSEU Local 13, representing workers at
the Canadian Mental Health Association in Woodstock, have
announced plans for an information picket outside their
workplace on Wednesday Oct. 3.
“We are calling out to our brothers and
sisters in OPSEU who work in the Woodstock area, and other
community labour supporters, to join us on the information
picket line on Oct. 3,” said Tischin Forster, president of
Local 133. “We must send a loud and clear message to our
employer that we are aiming for a fair contract that shows
respect and value to our members who are mental health
professionals providing community mental health support.”
The information picket is scheduled for 7
p.m., Wednesday Oct. 3, at 522 Pine Street, Woodstock.
Members of Local 133 will be in a legal
position to strike at 12:01 a.m., Saturday Oct. 6. One day
of mediation is scheduled for Oct. 5.
